Collecting Evidence
How can you collect evidence if you’re being harassed? Your safety comes first but here are some tips on what you can do in the moment and right after, to better process the situation and decide whether to report the case. These steps are good to keep in mind as it can eventually aid the investigation process.
If it does not compromise your safety:
- try to take a picture, audio or video recording, even if it only captures part of the person
- send messages to a friend for help, with details of the incident
- note down everything that happened right after the incident
- take note of possible witnesses
- collate all the evidence and save it so that you can always refer to it if you make the decision to report
If it happens online:
- screenshot the contact number/username and messages/pictures
- send messages to a friend for help, with details of the incident
- note down everything that happened right after the incident
- collate all the evidence and save it
-you can always refer to it if you make the decision to report
We have these tips in a handy Instagram post that you can save.
